This morning we found k on her stomach. We always put her to sleep on her back, so we knew she had rolled over during the night. It wasn't a fluke, as she continued to perform this new trick throughout the day. (She's been rolling over from her stomach to her back for a while, but back to stomach seems like a bigger accomplishment).

Memorial Day Weekend
Things haven't gone exactly as planned so far, but we have still managed to enjoy the holiday weekend.
On Saturday, we went to Irvine Spectrum. First problem: we forgot the stroller, because D has been switching cars and *someone* didn't put it in the trunk. Second problem: my shoes were giving me blisters so I couldn't walk too much. Third problem: we were planning to drop off k at her Uncle's place and watch Shrek, but the tickets for the 4 p.m. showing cost $11!! I know we haven't been to the movies for a while, but I thought that was ridiculous. So, we just did a little shopping, scrapped the movie idea, dropped off k, and went to look at some model homes. (We're planning to see an a.m. showing of Shrek tomorrow for $5 at AMC). Then we ate dinner with my sister and brother-in-law at Mustard Cafe (the guys had "Pastrami OC" sandwiches, which they seemed to enjoy very much).
A stranger offered to take a family picture of us at the Spectrum when she saw I was going to take a picture of just D and k. I thought that was nice and it made me think that I should offer to do that for others more.
Today we were planning to go to Huntington Beach, but ended up at Seal Beach. k seemed to be getting a lot of attention wherever we went.
Here is k with her feet in the sand for the first time.
What are you guys looking at?

Tanaka Farms
Today k and I went to Tanaka Farms with our MnM's group. We took a tour on the tractor, which k seemed to enjoy. Too bad she's not old enough to taste the produce.
Here we are with a green onion.
Tanaka Farms is famous for their strawberries. This year, however, half of their crop succumbed to a fungus. :( We were still able to sample some of the good ones off the vine. Notice that they plant onions among the strawberries. The odor keeps the bugs away!
They also grow organic bananas, although it is too cold here for them to really thrive.
Afterward, we visited D at his office since we were close by. k was able to meet a lot of D's co-workers.
k looks more interested in D's Coke Plus.

Five Months!
Yesterday k turned five months old. This past month went by pretty fast. k had her first solid food, turned over from her stomach to her back and learned how to sit up. It is so fun to watch her develop. For those who do not have DSL and could not watch the "first meal" video, here are some pictures of k eating rice cereal. She seems to enjoy her new high chair, which is really a booster seat that straps onto a regular chair--genius!

Happy k
Looking at our pictures of k, you might think she doesn't smile too much (case in point: the Newport Beach picture with D--could she look any more sad?) However, she does smile a lot when the camera is not pointed at her. She is still learning how to laugh, and makes us laugh in the process.

Cinco de Mayo Weekend
In order to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, we ate at Taco Rosa in Newport Beach. It made D's "top restaurant" list (after some re-tooling, which I am sure he will explain later). We had a pineapple agua fresca (free refills!), Arizona burrito (chicken, spinach, mushrooms), Mexico City enchiladas (chicken), and an amuse bouche (is that how you spell it?) of a mini vegetarian tostada, beef empanada and marinated veggies. k was on her best behavior. ;)
Then we went to Fashion Island. I found shoes at the Macy's Friends and Family sale (a salesperson was nice enough to give us the discount even though I lost my coupon) and D bought socks.
I think k has a good head shape for hats. She seems to like them, too.
