Keilah Joy L.

When L & I were trying to pick out names for our baby, we wanted to find a name in the Bible; preferably the Old Testament. The Old Testament is rich in history and has cool names i.e. e.g. Meshach, Shadrach & Abed-nego. Biblical girls names, I believe, are harder to find than boys. However we found a town in present day Israel whose name was Keilah.

Keilah was a town in the lowlands of the tribe of Judah which was made famous by its story in 1 Samuel 23. David (before he was King David) rescued Keilah from the attack of the Philistines. King David was of the tribe of Judah & eventually rules over all 12 tribes. The town is west of the Dead Sea.

When I type in Joy in biblegateway.com, there are 242 results. However, one verse pops into my mind when I think of the word joy. It is in Galatians 5:22-23. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
