It's Ours!

It's official, the house is ours. Our real estate agent gave us the keys yesterday. We will be moving in tomorrow. This past week has been spent at my parents' house. We've had it pretty good--home cooked meals and extra hands to help with the kids at all times! Looking forward to moving in, though.

A Saturday Night in Los Alamitos

After a full afternoon of packing, we went out to dinner with my parents. D's co-worker has been raving about a Chinese restaurant called Fortune Cookie that is near by our place, so we decided to give it a try. (My parents and I had take out from there a LONG time ago, but D had never been). We ordered chicken lettuce cups, orange chicken, eggplant, House lo mein and brown rice. Fortune Cookie is known for being "healthier" Chinese--all of the nutritional info is on the menu. D and I thought it was funny that we were the only Asian people in there aside from the employees, and it was pretty crowded! We enjoyed the food, and even had enough leftovers for tonight's dinner.

Note the mess that k made...this happens pretty much whenever we go out.

Afterward my parents went home and we headed to the nearby Los Alamitos Race Course for the Wiener Nationals! This was another thing that we have meant to do, and now that we're moving, we thought we might as well.

We didn't get there early enough to get the good seats. The dogs are so small, it was hard to see:

There was also horse racing, but we only stayed for the first race. I'm sure it is a lot more interesting if you have money at stake!

k was more interested in this:
Wienerschnitzel
D was able to snag a beach ball that they were throwing out to the crowd.

On the way home we ran into a DUI stop set up by the Cypress police...I guess they wanted to target the race attendees.

Also wanted to note that last week n turned four months old.

He weighed 17 pounds at the doctor's office. Love those thunder thighs!

Picnic & Pops

On Saturday we did something that I've meant to do for the past couple of summers but never got around to: attended Cypress' Concert on the Green. The Cypress Pops Orchestra did a tribute to "The Greatest Generation". The weather was perfect, and there were a bunch of trees that provided some nice shade. We arrived a half hour early, but there were tons of people already there. We couldn't see the stage very well, but we could hear the music fine. According to the program, my jr. high band teacher was playing lead clarinet!

For our dinner we brought food from a new favorite local place: Cambinos! I wanted to order just one Mixed Plate for all of us (it's a lot of food!), but D said he was famished, so we also ordered a chicken skewer bowl. We were stuffed, but the only thing we couldn't finish was the rice.

We just happened to run into someone from my CBS group (her family is in the background).

k brought her doll Abby, because "Abby will cry if we leave her at home."

He Smiles

Although you can't tell from our blog, n is a very smiley baby. Tickling his tummy and tapping him on the nose always elicits a giggle. That's what I did to get this picture of him:

I can't remember where he got the beanie, but it is so cute! Too bad we're in the middle of summer.

Something to Look Forward To

Aren't the mascots for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics cute? I like "Sumi", myself. When D and I went to Vancouver/Whistler in 2005 they were already preparing for the games by working on the highway between Vancouver and Whistler. Back then it seemed like 2010 was so far away, and now it is just around the corner.

Independence Day

Last night we watched fireworks put on by the Irvine Police Association. D got free tickets, so we went with my parents. We sat in the bleachers of the Irvine High School football stadium, and the fireworks were set off very close to us. I was kind of concerned about how k and n would handle the noise. However, n slept through the whole thing and k fell asleep half way through! (We were covering their ears).

Getting out of the parking lot was a nightmare. You would think an event put on by the police would have better parking control. It was a good show, but the parking situation will probably keep us from returning any time soon. We got home past 10:30...D and I couldn't think of a time when we have stayed out so late while having kids (I'm serious, we are NOT night owls).

Update: Our offer on the Tustin Ranch home was accepted! Two other offers fell through, and we were third in line. The inspection is tomorrow, so hopefully everything goes well.

Goodbye June

Wow, June was a record-bad blogging month for us. I didn't even write about Father's Day or k's 2 1/2 birthday. I can't believe that the year is already half over!

Our buyer released contingencies, so apartment hunting we will go this weekend.

Also, n flipped over on the bed tonight (back to stomach). We'll see if he can repeat this move, or if it was just a fluke.
