Seal Beach 10k

Today I ran the Seal Beach 10k. It started at 8:00 a.m. The weather was nice. It wasn't too cold in the morning, but it was a little hot for running by 8:30. It wasn't as crazy busy as the Anaheim Half-Marathon. It had more community spirit and a more small town feel to it. L dropped me off and I went to the starting line. I saw a guy from work but he had to drop some stuff off to his car, so I didn't run with him. He was running the 5k anyway. I started close to the front, so I didn't get stuck with the walkers like I did in the Anaheim Half-Marathon. I started too fast though. I was supposed to run 9 minute miles, and the first mile even slower (so I could pace myself and run faster at the end and also because the start it slow because of the crowds). However, I did the first mile in 8 minutes and 20 secs. Even after the second mile I was still too fast, 16 mintues and 50 seconds. I slowed it down in the 3rd and 4th miles. I then went a little faster in the 5th mile, but by the 6th mile, I ran out of gas. I slowed down to a slow jog. I finished in 53:57, which was 2 minutes faster than my goal. So I am happy about that. It should also help me get close to my 2hr 10 minute Disneyland Half-marathon goal.

Irvine Regional Park

tree
We took k to yet another park last Saturday--Irvine Regional Park (which is actually located in Orange). As you may have figured out by now, I enjoy a picnic, so we brought some food along. We were blessed by another day of beautiful weather. Afterward, we took a walk and made sure to steer clear of rattlesnakes (there were warning signs). We also saw some WPC people on the mini train that circles the park during our walk. When we headed over to the station we ran into them again and chatted for a while. This park is at the top of k's list--too bad we didn't take more pictures. Irvine Regional Park is also the home of the OC zoo, but D didn't want to go because he thought it would be too smelly.

Three Months!

dancing
I can't believe k is already celebrating her three month birthday. The "fourth trimester" is over! k likes to dance on tables, as demonstrated here. She's sleeping better and weighs over 13 lbs.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

k wore green today so she wouldn't get pinched. I think we did pinch those chubby legs, though--who could resist?

D multi-tasking: playing with k while watching the IU game

Yesterday I started working again, part-time, from home. Hopefully it will continue to work out.

Tummy Time (11 Weeks)

tummy time
Here is k during "tummy time". She's getting pretty good at it! k has also been sleeping more the past couple of weeks--she can go up to 5 hours at a time now. The past couple of nights haven't been as good though, because we are transitioning her to a bigger swaddle/wrap and it's a little too big. k is a little Houdini, and can get her arms and legs out, defeating the purpose of swaddling. D just weighed her and we estimate she is 13 lbs.!

Mile Square Park

k can now add Mile Square Park to her list of "Top Destinations". We picked up a honey mustard chicken sandwich from Quiznos beforehand and had a picnic at the park. It was nice to see other families with the same idea, spending quality time together.

hat
k sportin' her new hat. Yes, it is a *little* big.

ducks
There was a bunch of ducks eating nearby. D told k they were eating acorns. :)

path
The park has a nice path winding around it. We were wondering how long it is, because it seemed like more than a mile!

I'm not sure how this park rates compared to El Dorado. I guess El Dorado has better birds, and it is closer to our house. Parking is $1 cheaper at Mile Square ($5 compared to $6). There were a lot more kids playing sports at Mile Square. Both parks have small lakes that allow fishing, but I would be scared to see any fish that came out of them.

Playing Around

On Sunday, k was able to meet more of her "aunties". We went to Lisa's house and she made an Italian dinner. Many of the ingredients came from Trader Joe's. Coincidentally, the drinks and dessert, brought by J and R, were also from Trader Joe's. It was all very yummy.

hiding
k is trying to eat the clouds on my pjs!

high
k is unsure this is a good idea.

New Clothes (10 Weeks)

high rise
k is starting to grow out of her 0-3 month clothes. This makes me a little sad, but that also means that she gets to wear all of her cute 3-6 month outfits. Check out these high rise pants--they go up to her armpits!
